Asst. Supt. Tracarico
Asst. Superintendent Glen Tricarico Retiring

February 26 - COVID resulted in small gatherings of firefighters rotating in and out of the Legislative Council chambers at town hall Friday afternoon to wish Asst. Supt. of Apparatus Glen Tricarico well as he retires from the departrment after 21 years on the job.  A registered nurse and exellent "street medic," Glen joined the department on February 28, 2000 and was assigned at various times to Stations 2, 3, and 4 before being appointed Assistant Supt. of Apparatus in February 2015.

During his tenure as Asst. Supt., Glen has become Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified, and shortly he will start a new career with the Town of Stratford.

A highly placed source informs the website that among Glen's off-duty pursuits, he enjoys camping, working in his garage on projects, and he's an aficionado of fine bourbons.

The members of the Hamden Fire Retirees Assn., of which Glen Tricarico is now a member, thank him for his service in the HFD and wish him a happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement.

Chief Merwede has continued a long-standing department tradition, begun under Chief Berardesca, of honoring department members on their last day.  The sparse looking group belies the actual total attendance, which filtered in and out of the town hall Council chambers throughout the late afternoon.

Despite the "social distancing" that was strictly observed, many of Glen's friends and co-workers were able to rotate in and out of the Council chamber to wish him well on his last day.

Ff. Tricarico Sworn in as Assistant Superintendent

February 13 - A large turnout of department members joined family members at the Friday morning swearing-in of Firefighter Glen Tricarico as the department's Assistant Superintendent of Apparatus.  A fifteen year veteran of the department, Asst. Supt. Tricarico fills the vacancy created when Supt. Jim LaFond was promoted last month following the retirement of Supt. Donald Buechele.  A new firefighter is expected to be appointed soon to replace Tricarico's position on the line.

The Hamden Fire Retirees Association wishes Glen all the very best in his new position.
