Deacon Jack Mordecai
 
Lieut. Jack Mordecai served on the Hamden Fire Department for 32 years, retiring in December 2005.  On Saturday, June 2nd, Jack was ordained as a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford by Archbishop Henry J. Mansell.
 
A resident of Bethany, Deacon Mordecai served in his first Mass the following day at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Woodbridge, his home parish.  He is officially assigned there as of June 16th.
 
Congratulations, Jack!  Wishing you many happy and fulfilling years in your new calling.

A celebration was held after Jack's ordination at the Hawthorne Inn in Berlin.
John, Jr. (left), a graduate of UConn, is a journalist.  Joseph, a graduate of Quinnipiac University in the video arts, is a film editor.

Michael (with son Andrew) is a paramedic with the Hamden Fire Department.

Daughter Elisabeth, holding nephew Andrew, is an occupational therapist.
