FDNY "FIRE FIGHTER"

Website thanks go out to former Hamden Historical Society Archivist Beth Shutts, who recently sent these photos of the FDNY fire boat "Fire Fighter" at Greenport, New York, on the north fork of Long Island.

Now National Historic Landmark, this vessel first saw service in February 1942, when the "Normandie" caught fire and capsized in New York Harbor (see video links below). Its last service was on September 11, 2001.
