Message from Dale Kroop, Director of Economic and Neighborhood Development Town of Hamden

We hope you are hanging in there during these tough times. Things seem to change a great deal every day. There are a lot of uncertainties and anxiety about what will happen in the short and long run.

We are working remote and I’m sure you are as well. It is unclear as to when we will be in the office so I would not recommend that you call our office. If you need to get in touch with us, please email me at dkroop@hamden.com. I will return your call in a reasonable time frame.

You are no doubt being inundated with helpful updates and links to COVID19 health announcements. We will not attempt to just resend the same information you are already getting. As a small or large business, here is what we recommend that you do.

  • Stay connected to what Mayor Leng is posting because it is the real time information about what you can and cannot do in the Town.

  • Watch the Town Web site at www.hamden.com

  • If you have access to social media, check the Mayor’s Face Book page at https://www.facebook.com/LengforHamden/

  • Important: Track announcements regarding relief efforts, SBA loans and other state resources for small businesses. The best source of this is the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce. They are working hard to keep you informed whether you are a member or not. They are also there to support you to provide contacts and timely information. They have links to take out information for restaurants and stores and other special deals that will help you get through the crisis. They have also created a great page to all of the State and Federal resources that could provide critical information about loans and relief for small businesses. Go to http://hamdenregionalchamber.com/.

We will continue to provide updates on major projects in Town so you are keeping up so we will not change anything we have already been doing. For example we recently did an update on the High Meadows project. If you or someone you know are not on our mailing list for updates send me your email at dkroop@hamden.com and we will add you.

Finally we plan to develop an engagement process and an eventual Resiliency Plan for the future when things WILL get back to normal. Even though that may take some time, our local economy in the future will be dependent on working on that now. I will share that with you in the coming days.

Stay safe and be well,

Town of Hamden Economic Development | 2750 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518
